About Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater, located in northern Tanzania, is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it spans approximately 260 square kilometers (100 square miles) and is renowned for its stunning landscape and dense wildlife population, including the Big Five.

Often called "Africa’s Garden of Eden," the crater provides a unique ecosystem for a wide variety of species. Visitors can explore the floor of the crater and encounter animals like lions, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo in one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife habitats.
